he water is still going to go the same place it is now.
That is the problem. My sources tell me the flow into the River Run pond cannot be increased beyond what it is now. We will be looking to control the water by releasing it before heavy storms with the weir. As previously mentioned, 50,000 cubic feet of additional retention is not going to do much. and help tremendously with the water quality. Not sure I am buying the "tremendously" part. We aren’t adding any more water than what flows down now, we are just trying to control it so it doesn’t bombard peoples homes. The runoff will be whatever it is, depending the the severity of the rainfall. What you will be doing is getting the water out of OP and under Beauchamp into the River Run pond faster. No question, and that may be a major problem. Again, that 50,000 cublic feet of storage is almost meaningless in any decent rain. If there is less flooding within OP there will be greater flows under Beauchamp in peak runoff periods. So if the possibility arises in the future where we can add an additional place for stormwater to go What would be any possible location to direct more runoff from that area into the bay? The only possibility I am aware of is some sort of a system directing the water down Beauchamp Road. I thought I heard that could cost $10 million. We have an engineer we are paying. Why is he not answering these questions? Or is no one asking him? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The water is still going to go the same place it is now. We will be looking to control the water by releasing it before heavy storms with the weir. Two of the culverts being replaced are being done so with concrete and the other is going from a 15” to an 18” poly pipe. Based upon analyses, this slight pipe size increase reduces the frequency of storm runoff overtopping Sandyhook Rd, while still adequately utilizing the available storage within its upstream swale. All of these culverts need to be replaced regardless of this project. This project is to help improve stormwater runoff (not fix it) and help tremendously with the water quality. We aren’t adding any more water than what flows down now, we are just trying to control it so it doesn’t bombard peoples homes. Also one big piece we were doing before was installing a new culvert under Beauchamp Road at ivy lane which has nothing to do with Bainbridge pond but would have needed the man made pond at the old golf course to take on that water. Our previous project was going to make improvements for around 800 homes where our new project will make improvements for around 370 homes. So if the possibility arises in the future where we can add an additional place for stormwater to go, we can add more culverts in that area (such as Ivy lane). |
