I done a little checking in my records and yes some of drainage goes to River Run
That is a well known situation. A major part of water leaving the Bainbridge Pond goes into the River Run Pond as a result of efforts by County Commissioner Bunting. Perhaps that took place after you left Ocean Pines. and Marty is right about the elevation. Well, if Marty and you are correct, then OPA just went through a rather wasteful operation. OPA, with the help of the county, the cost of an engineer, and enough paperwork to convince the State of Maryland to grant $465,000 toward a project that is impossible to complete unless they have figured out how to make water run uphill. Do you think that is really what happened? Are you spitballing, or do you base support of Marty's position on actuall elevations of the proposed project Colby's team put together with aid of an engineer and the county? Also there was a plan for pipe to be installed all the way down the road to the Park but not a 10 million cost at the time it was around 4 Million! $4 million (10 years ago), $8 million, $10 million -- as a practical matter, will OPA build such an outfall at any of those costs? Let me ask again -- where will the water go to substantially reduce currentflooding below Bainbridge Park. 50,000 cubic feet of increased storage in the pond may sound like a lot but it is only a drop in the proverbial bucket. As it now stands, the so-called phase one project will increase the flow to River Run. It will have to. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, I done a little checking in my records and yes some of drainage goes to River Run and Marty is right about the elevation. Also there was a plan for pipe to be installed all the way down the road to the Park but not a 10 million cost at the time it was around 4 Million! Now I remember why I was never involved in the fix! But for the infrastructure was in very bad shape 10 years ago so I know it has not gotten better. |
