Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Board to Dump Janasek? Msg# 1104466

Steve, For one that says what one thinks.. I appreciate your comments.
We the people are in charge. My thoughts; Joe keeps telling the us what is current. Slobadon still working the system as was once written... Steve Tuttle just left, without much fanfare and we put that on a back burner even though he gave his all, [even though I didn't always agree with him]. Now Janosek can't speak his mind... Piatti [most qualified] didn't take the job. IJS. It's time for us all to to take a step backward, a introspective look as to what we really want our elected officials to do for us. Maybe report what our paid folks are doing isn't so bad. Or, If we are going to be run by the Golf community, and what is said goes and we should just shut up because there are almost 200 of them. If we want the clubs to to take lead, then we should champion the new club house with the same fervor that we did for the YC and cheer those that spend their time there and everyone should make it their new go-to place. Fist bump Matt Ortt, that's not tongue n cheek, still huge cudos for Matt. And if pickle ball is the fastest growing sport in the US let's push those like minded folks forward. Or, we should just appreciate those elected folks for their random thoughts and let them speak their mind, without retribution. Lastly, sometimes I appreciate a word that is not always "with the crowd". Look at what has me still listening to you Steve Lind and Marty Clarke, Jack Barnes and Joe Reynolds after all these years. I'm just saying. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Beats me. I suspect Viola wants to reinforce the idea of who really is in charge of Ocean Pines. Who is in charge? The elected officials should be in charge, Viola is an appointee. BTW, I have seen Viola and Perrone glued to each others side several times at the (golf) clubhouse. Do not read anything into that statement, I am not implying anything, I am just stating fact. (But as a side note, it concerns me that board members/gm may be sticking there nose into Matt Ortt business . . . who came up with the clubhouse food/drink discount provided to golfers, a discount that is just another stealth subsidy to what has been a perpetual money pit, a discount that excludes the property owners who paid millions for the new golf clubhouse. Did the gm and/or the several board members - - who are golfers and frequent the clubhouse - - interfere with Ortt management by suggesting/requesting/insisting that a discount be provided?) Getting back to Janasek, as a former board candidate I have spoken to him informally many times re OPA matters, he has never made any disparaging/unethical remarks to me re Viola. Again, just saying, not making any kind of determination. It is hard to imagine that anything Janasek did could not be addressed by applying a "lesser remedy" than dismissal. But if he is in fact dismissed by a board that succumbs to a 'it's either him or me' threat, an elected official being removed because of such an ultimatum would be a bad, bad thing for the community. Every board member must be able to make independent decisions without being fearful of the wrath of any gm. Steve Lind |
