How many acres in the pond watershed? Wild guess - over 50.
Two inches of rain on near 7 acre watershed could fill the 50,000 cubic feet addition in a matter of hours based on the numbers you provided. As I said, the increased pond capacity should help. The question is how long will flooding be delayed in a heavy rainfal of the amount that caused flooding in the past? Seems to me whoever designed the project should know all this. The increased pond capacity does little or nothing to help get the water out of OP. Time will tell. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Help me understand what's in these numbers ?? Click Here 27,154 gallons on one acre from 1 inch of rain. Click Here Conversion of cu.ft to U.S. gallons 50,000 cu. ft. comes to 374,025 gallons Dividing it out, comes to about 13-3/4 acres from 1 inch of rainfall, could fit into 50,000 cu.ft. of pond capacity 2 inches of rainfall could accommodate water from about 6-7/8 acres into a 50,000 cu.ft. capacity pond Seems a large divergence from the assumptions, in earlier discussions here. Interesting. |
