Neil:
We do need to read all history, the good and the bad, but it needs to be factual in order t fairly judge. You mention the Tulsa riots which are the new lesson of today. According to everything I have been able to read dating back to the incident less then 90 people perished of which over a third were white. The first shot that actually triggered the riots was fired by a black citizen. History is important. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You wrote… “Nor can you change the fact that these blacks were originally enslaved by other blacks in Africa before being sold to white slave traders”. Is that supposed to lessen the fact that they were brought here as slaves? Not a question of changing history but rather providing additional information that had been left out of history. Who of you had heard about the Tulsa riots and the burning of black wall street when we were in school or the Battle of the Washita etc??? History is important but too often we are not taught the full history. As far as books about things we may not agree with, you still have the choice to read them or not. |
