I’d say that the decision was a distinction without a difference | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Following was sent to board and OPA attorney: Back in September of 2020, the Ocean Pines Progress contained a feature article by Tom Stauss. The article documented some sort of a flap involving then board member Tom Janasek and the issue involved "gifts and gratuities" for board members. According to Stauss, in the public part of the board meeting, Tom Janasek alluded to a "scolding" email he received from Horn over what the Progress said it learned involved "allegations that Janasek received some nominal benefit at the Yacht Club which he did not pay for." According to the article, Janasek would occasionally fix the beer lines and Janasek "does not regard the occasional offer of a free beer as a problem." I am asking for confirmation or denial, as reported to me, that in that closed session the board decided it was not permissible for board members to receive free food and drink in the Matt Ortt Companies operations in OPA venues, but board members could accept free food and drink at Matt Ortt Companies restaurant operations outside of Ocean Pines. Also, if any such discussion took place, what was the justification for doing so in closed session? |
