I was getting answers from John Taulston
John Tustin. Now retired. John Ross - now retired. Two years ago John Ross informed me that on a beautiful July fourth weekend, the busiest of any period in OP, the sewage treatment plant was running at HALF CAPACITY. All of us in OPA have financed a plant double the size needed - after the County promised all the expansions were only required to serve the Ocean Pines subdivision. I have not been happy with how the Board has handled the waste situation. This water situation is even more critical. I hope the Board takes action. What action? All the board can do is "beg" Worcester County. From 2005: 200 Pound Gorilla If, by action, you mean making some sort of a statement, that could be useful. However, the horse has long left the barn in terms of OPA having any influence on the service area operation. All the major decisions are made - years ago. OPA is essentially a backup for Riddle Farms and a source for major increased development in the 589 corridor or beyond when it comes. I was fighting this battle in 1995. The Board then supported the County. I lost. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I did extensive research on effluent in 2020 and 2021. Glen Riddle, Lighthouse Sound and Eagles Run all used effluent irrigation. I was getting answers from John Taulston, Dallas Baker, and John Ross. The Environmental Institute for Golf was also helpful. At that time, the Glen Riddle effluent was good. The current authorized effluent gallon discharge at that time was 700,000 gallons. Glen Riddle was using their pond as a holding well too. I am hopeful that the ponds are still full enough to use to water their course. I do not know if they are using potable water on their course.
