Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Dump Internet Voting Msg# 1209642

What happens when a board seat is decided by one vote and it is impossible to verify any Internet vote recount. Elections are too important to do on the Internet with no paper trail - just to save the trouble of dropping an envelope in the mail.
Save money? What is the cost to do the Internet vote versus the cost of return envelopes? Have you calculated or are you simply repeating published propaganda that contains no actual numbers. Why are OPA elections any less important than Ocean city or Berlin elections? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Couldn’t agree with u less. Over 25% of the votes cast were through the internet. Obviously, it’s something wanted by a large number of voters. U may continue to use paper but many people enjoy a simpler and efficient process. It also saves money for mailing. Most people do all their banking through the internet, and are very comfortable that it is a safe, as is internet voting. Also, voters get an immediate response that their vote was counted. Why not give people a choice?? |
