Again that is a guess
Kind of what much of these discussions over MarWin involve. My concern is over visibility of the towers from the beach, as it seems is the primary concern of Ocean City. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, What I am saying is that Maryland may see 1/4 to a 1/3 of the power generated from the wind turbines, but Ocean City, which has to live with them, may see very little of the power. Again that is a guess and the flows vary depending on system conditions. I misspoke when I said Maryland, I should have said Ocean City. No, there is noting unusual about electricity distribution over a wide area, but the line you are referencing is going directly from the source to the load and from the converter station reference is a DC line. The equivalent of what is happening with the wind turbines is if the line went from La Prairie to West Point to feed load in New York City. The generation would have to work its way through the transmission system to get from West Point to New York City like the wind turbine generation to get from Indian River to Ocean City. Tom in one of his comments has a reference to the US Wind Report which details why they picked Indian River as their insertion point. They don't say in their report, but they are using state properties to get to Indian River, because utilities don't have the right of eminent domain in Delaware and they would never get the private rights to get from the shore to Indian River. |
