There are more concerns other than aesthetics. You posted a link to compensation to waterman. My question is why? Obviously, they know the windfarm will negatively affect sea life and waterman.
Turbines hold as much as 1400 liters of oil. The oil needs periodic changing. This is a recipe for disaster. Wind turbines last, at best, 20 years which means they rarely pay for themselves. All one has to do is take a ride to Western Maryland. When we had property in Deep Creek, we would take our ATVs to check out the turbines. They were primarily on privately owned properties and property owners were paid ground rent. They were on private property because Maryland does not allow turbines on state owned property. Why is that? The turbines were rarely operating. One thing I will say is that they are massive and pretty incredible to look at up close. All of the analyses are based on optimal conditions and continuous operation, which I have seen, first hand, will not be the case. This, like pretty much everything else, is purely political. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Again that is a guess Kind of what much of these discussions over MarWin involve. My concern is over visibility of the towers from the beach, as it seems is the primary concern of Ocean City. |
