As I mentioned earlier, this is just my personal opinion.
Claire and I have been to the Yacht Club a bunch of times, and we still enjoy it. The food is always good, and the prices are reasonable. We’ve also eaten at Public House, which I’ve seen almost empty at times. I can’t comment on the dinner hours, but I think there were more people eating lunch before the controversy than there are now. You mentioned the outside and how crowded it is. It’s usually crowded late in the day when people are back from the beach or something. The venue is different, though. There’s often a band, and of course, the outside bar that attracts a crowd, especially in the summer months. As for it looking like a cafeteria, I think Ott did a really good job remodeling. Did it please everyone? No, but then again, I’m more of a foodie than a decorator. And yes, I’ve eaten at some of the best restaurants and in some of the worst back alley restaurants. So, again, I stick with what I said in my original post: they were never able to recover from the controversy. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: IMO they were hurt by all of the negativity resulting from the incident and they never were able to recover. Again just my opinion no facts to base it on. Your opinion is not supported by the facts. Why? In the prior fiscal year, Matt Ortt made a cash-in-pocket profit of around $500,000, and that year was closer to the height of the Knupp/Ortt controversy. Association members were obviously going to the Yacht Club outside deck in droves. The problem then, as before the Knupp/Ortt controversy, and continuing to this day, is the lack of customers eating lunch or dinner in the dining room. |
