The idea was sell the "commercial lots" (considered to be 7 to 8 acres, before the land sale to the post office and to the County for the library) to help pay for the entire property. I disagree -- totally. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Gene/Joe S: I agree completely with both of you. However, as much as I have been opposed to selling the 589 lots since 1995, that was the intent from the beginning when the Sports Core was purchased from 589. The idea was sell the "commercial lots" (considered to be 7 to 8 acres, before the land sale to the post office and to the County for the library) to help pay for the entire property. A resolution for the sale was first tried in 1995 along with two other separate resolutions items--construction of an activities center (a wonderful 40,000 sf facility with indoor pool and all for $5.0 million) and the purchase of land for another golf course. The sale of the property lost by 266 votes, as did the other two proposals! This time, in 2005, the sale was coupled with the construction of the new community center and it was approved narrowly. |
