He said we could save ourselves a lot of money because of waterfront properties.....???? TAXES. Property taxes would be levied on owners, not uniform assessments as they are now. Smaller homes would be taxed at much lower rates; waterfront homes would be hit hard. When the owners of OPA see how their annual payments would change to a tax based on the current state property tax, they just might consider Stachurski's concept somewhat more favorably. Based on his responses to you, I think I now understand what he may be attempting to do.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, I asked Dan after the meeting today how he could possibly think that over 50% of us would vote to disinfranchise ourselves. He said we could save ourselves a lot of money because of waterfront properties.....???? The question still remains...."why would we cut ourselves out of our own "government"?? What do the waterfront lots have to do with it? I didn't even ask him because it ain't gonna happen. Nancy |
