The imported beer example I just gave to Robert is a great value, or at the very least, comparable to any bar in the neighboring area. The atmosphere is far superior to most. The only "outright subsidizing something" comes from our membership buying their imported beer someplace else because they are still "subsidizing" the Yacht Clubs negative operating costs. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The point to be made is that on average if every member stopped by the YC just once each month and spent only $7.00, there would be no YC deficit. Who can't do that? If you don't like the food, order a drink or two. It is not a matter of "Who can't do that" but the reality is that people "won't do that" any more than when the Japanese started producing better cars and everyone was being encouraged to "buy American". People like to at least feel that their dollar is buying value not outright subsidizing something. |
