Did you read the info provided with your ballot. The new YC is proposed to last 40 years. That is a quote. So thw BOD wants to tear down the current 40 year old YC build a new YC and tear it down in 40 years. Have they ever seen frame buildings in the northeast over 200 years old. with proper maintenance building should last well past 40 years. The BOD also claims in the propaganda notice that the increase in the reserves over the last 4 years will pay for the construction cost for the new YC. Do the $30 per year for 4 years times 8440 members totals $2,532,000. They way I count that does not equal 4.3 million. Randy |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jeff: With all due respect, I promise to not try and tell you how to practice your profession, so please don't tell me how to do mine. Even a brand new building will need to be maintained over its life, which normally is way longer then 40 years. I can not remember a building, out side of a disaster scenario, that was torn down after just 40 years. Can you? In my professional opinion the $1.1 Million Dollar renovation I have suggested, if coupled with proper maintenance, will allow our current Yacht Club facility many many more years of service. Marty |
