I have to agree with this. It does seem rather foolish to just tear buildings down after 40 years. I question why none of these buildings have been properly maintained over the years? Has any maintenance been done on the new community center since it was built? Or is that going to just rot away also? Most reputable property management companies have a routine inspection schedule which involves weekly and monthly checks of all the buildings from top to bottom and any necessary repairs are done immediately, in addition to regularly scheduled maintenance. It appears that Ocean Pines isn't doing anything like this.
Aside from that, it just doesn't seem likely that a new building is going to attract more customers to the restaurant. Captain's Cove has a new building for their Marina Club and yet they are also getting bad reviews--on food and service--not the premises. I realize there has been talk of a business plan, but if it is put together by individuals who don't have in-depth experience in running a successful restaurant, what good is it? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jeff: With all due respect, I promise to not try and tell you how to practice your profession, so please don't tell me how to do mine. Even a brand new building will need to be maintained over its life, which normally is way longer then 40 years. I can not remember a building, out side of a disaster scenario, that was torn down after just 40 years. Can you? In my professional opinion the $1.1 Million Dollar renovation I have suggested, if coupled with proper maintenance, will allow our current Yacht Club facility many many more years of service. Marty |
