The first time I ever used the Beach Club bathroom was in June of 1969. It has changed little since then...except for the nice new sink area and new mirrors.
Hi Nancy, You seem to have fond memories of the Beach Club. I think after 44 years it would be nice for loyal Beach Club members like yourself to have something more modern and functional then faux marble sinks. You are certainly more tolerant than I. I've only used the same facilities for about 12 years. I can't think of a way to "renovate" an underground bathroom that would make any sense. I might have used the word "renovate" but there was a plan to replace. I think the original plan called for replacement, above ground, for around $300,000 to $350,000. I think that has now escaladed to substantially more. Norm |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I did not buy a Beach Parking pass this season so I don't know what current conditions are. However, from my past experience, despite the extra effort that was made to keep the drains clean and functional, the bathrooms are dark, dingy, damp and odorous. They lack proper ventilation to say the least. Our Boards and Managements are well aware of this and that is why they had scheduled major renovations a number of times. Norm Hi Norm, The first time I ever used the Beach Club bathroom was in June of 1969. Of course..there was little sand in there because there were not many people using the place. It has changed little since then...except for the nice new sink area and new mirrors. The BEST THING that has happened is that when someone flushes a toilet, the folks who are taking a shower NO LONGER get scalded with HOT WATER! That was a big problem. We had to listen intently for toilet flushes so we could get out of the way in time. One of my daughter's first sentences was "Mommy, Mommy....the toilet, the toilet ...be careful! " The bathroom is underground...and it is very humid in there. Fans are placed in the changing room to help with that. If people would clean their feet off before going into the bathroom...there would not be so much sand. Sometimes it looks like a shovel is needed. There is a hose not far from the door to spray feet off...but I guess you can't force people to use it. Maybe they could work on that. I bathed and dressed my children in that bathroom for many, many years and we survived. You are not in there very long. You use the toilet, take a shower and go to the changing room. I can't think of a way to "renovate" an underground bathroom that would make any sense. That is why they have not done it. It is NOT a place where you hang out. The changing room is not so bad. I am good with the new sink area...and the fact that I no longer get burned, and if I were making the decisions on spending money.....it would NOT be at the Beach Club bathrooms, and I have been a steady customer for 44 years. Fouth of July is a nightmare at the beach and I avoid it. There are too many people trying to use the same space. If you have to go over....late in the day is best. Nancy |
