Just lack of interest? Seems like a barn and a corral/paddock couldn't have cost much to maintain.

That one house by the pond with the raised roof looks a lot like the old barn to me.

I drove by there 35 years ago and a spectacular looking young woman was pushing a wheel barrow full of manure out of the barn. I've felt kindly toward horse folks ever since. Robert

Most people come to the beach to play in the ocean.

Our kids did go to the Equestrian Center a few times, along with friends. They gave us free coupons to lure us over. The children decided that they didn't want to spend their time riding horses at the beach.

The barn was located on the land where the post office now stands. Rt. 90 had not been built, nor the library, so there was plenty of wooded land for the horse trails.

I still have the Equestrian Center materials that were given to us with our land purchase. There is a card with information on the rates for BOARDING YOUR HORSE WHILE AT THE BEACH!

Can you really imagine anyone bringing their horse to the beach??? Beach chairs, surf mats, toys....HORSE!

Simply put...The Equestiran Center was a marketing THING. It did  not last long. It was well done, and attractive.

One bad thing was... that the horse flies annoyed the bankers. Seems that the flies preferred bankers to horses. The bank was in the same location as it is now.
