Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Board Reps Meet with LU Msg# 938300

I know it's just a sampling of the membership, but if you were to do a "forum poll" regarding bringing the golf course situation to referendum,I would bet that there would be a majority in favor of converting it to a park to better suit the majority of homeowners. This is just my opinion, I could be totally wrong. Speaking for myself, I don't particularly like my assessment dollars throwing money into it every year. And even if $3,000.00 or so was indeed needed to get it to referendum, a modest donation by all interested in change would take care of that quite easily. Perhaps a poll has been done in the past regarding this, but I don't recall one. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: In my opinion our Board will never hold or promote any such referendum. I expect you are correct, but as golf continues to decline, as it probably will, future board may look at it differently. Our latest move was to fire Casper, hire LU, and then LU essentially kept all the people working for Casper. That may be changing now, but that is what happened. And LU's vaunted membership sign-up ability proposed 10 new memberships for the next fiscal year. Now that is real progress.
However, the good news is, you can. Please give me a call when you have your first meeting to raise the $3,000.00 necessary to start the process. You thought I was not aware of the above?? I believe association members would be best served by a open space park winding throughout the community. However, for me it does not rise to the level of the action you suggest I take. I'm not happy with the fed either, but I'm not gonna run for president. However, for anyone interested in pushing a referendum, $3000 is not "necessary." All it takes is about 900 signatures, if memory is correct. Money is just an easier, quicker way to go forward with one. Also, if spending money, in addition to a mailing for signatures, it would be a good idea to spend a few bucks on an attorney to make sure all the language is correct. However, should I or anyone decide to push a referendum via the by-laws, are you saying you would contribute toward any associated costs? |
