I would not want to look out from my back yard to high unkept grass.
You should not have to do so, even if a park. but have my doubts LU is the answer What is the answer? Casper cost OPA perhaps $1 million or more in operational losses while they managed the course. OPA decided to hire an outside manager because losses were in the range of $100,000 to $140,000 per year on operations. Losses actually increased after hiring outside management. I do not know exactly when, but at some point within the next 10 years I believe association members will say enough is enough and the course will be closed. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It is purely my opinion, but I believe an expansive open space park in lieu of a money-losing golf course would increase home values. One thing is painfully obvious -- our golf course is not a major attraction for home buyers or we would have more than 115 or so golf members. Can you explain to me why an open park would increase home value and what is the basis of your assumption. I have a house on the 17th hole and am not in favor of turning the golf course into a park. Look at the condition of the Pine Shore golf course. I would not want to look out from my back yard to high unkept grass. Also, I am not a golf member, as my house is a second home but my wife and I do use the course when I am down in OP. I do believe the course needs to be managed better but have my doubts LU is the answer. Also when you say that only 115 associate members benefit from the golf course you are forgetting that there are more people like myself who thou not members do use the course. |
