Steve:
The last time I checked Eagle's Landing did about a 1/3 more in revenue then OPA. However, are you aware that Eagle's landing has no membership. They rely on vacationers paying top retail $ for AM tee times. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My only reply about this meeting is----that LU should go over to Eagles Landing Golf course and talk to the golf pro or course management. From what I have been told they; are in the black every year and the course is very well managed. I suggest that LU go talk to Eagles Landing Management and find out what they are doing wright to make their golf course a success. The biggest financial problem and the reason so many members have dropped out is because how the course is run. Management needs to be able to work out tee times between members and the public and clubs that want top book outings. Beside taking care of the golf course and keeping it in good condition, the second most important job of LU is to increase membership and take on out side groups that want to play at OC. By balancing this out is how the course makes money and gets and keeps its members. Another problem with membership is the cost is to high. OP residents should not pay more than $500 or $600 a year membership. If management will stay in this price range they will increase the membership. The other major problem is to be able to give the paid members their tee times yet keep tee times open to the public and to golf clubs and organizations that want to book tee times. Also special rates need to be given to these clubs and organizations so they will come back and play more often. The rates of the OP golf course need to be competitive with other courses in the area. When I say competitive I mean $40, 45, 50 dollars. Not $60 dollars as it is most of the time. My only other suggest would be for LU to go around to the big hotels and offer special rates with the room rates of the different hotels, such as the Dunes, Clarion, Carousel, Marriott, and Best Western, Board walk Plaza, Holiday Inns, Ocean City Golf Course Groups. There are many hotels that need to be contacted to advertise that OP is open for business. It is not up to me be I am sure I could increase the membership and money that OP golf course could take in and so could anyone that has a brain. |
