My contention is that even if you get the GM/Board to abide by the letter of the law, they will not abide by the spirit of the law.
The spirit and letter of the law is simply to make the budget available to association members. The law does not require a board to listen to what association members say after they have the proposed budget. Having said that, if 200 people showed up at the board meeting, all demanding there be no food truck, I suspect there would not be a food truck in the budget. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't disagree with what you are saying. My contention is that even if you get the GM/Board to abide by the letter of the law, they will not abide by the spirit of the law. I really didn't think I needed to explain that to you but since you have sent me three messages on my message, I guess I do. I can't remember when, in the 30 years I've been associated with OP that a groundswell of opinion that originated from the published budget resulted in changes. Concerned Citizens, STOP, etc. were motivated by individual events not a budget that was posted within the required notice period. |
