Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Money is No Object Msg# 946195

I have said that if the Facilities Manager and or the Director of Parks and Recreation were aware of the safety report and did not act they should be held accountable.
There is little if any "if." It is most likely they knew. However, neither has the authority to just go and spend money as they please. Even the GM is limited to $15,000. And you throw out accusations without a clue as to their areas of responsibility or areas of authority. How would you hold them accountable? Stand in a corner? The GM has been aware of the safety inspection reports on the bridges for many years. So has the Facilities Manager. Is the Facilities Manager also accountable for not repairing the bridges? Heck, if we try hard enough maybe we can convince the board and the GM to bring legal charges against Marty Clarke for failure on both counts. Moran is correct. This has moved to the Contortionist stage. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: If you think that Jerry Aveta and/or Sonya Bounds have any authority to unilaterally go and do maintenance work on that playground equipment, you are simply wrong. I have said that if the Facilities Manager and or the Director of Parks and Recreation were aware of the safety report and did not act they should be held accountable. At no time did I suggest that they should be the ones going to the playground and completing the maintenance work. I stand by that statement. |
