Personally I would give it for going above and beyond as it was stated “going out of ones way”. I thank my team daily for the hard work they do doing their jobs.
After reading over the notice from the HR person a few more times, I don't believe this is meant in any way for supervisors to give Peer Praise Notes to employees in their department or any other department. Well, unless every person receiving an OPA paycheck is considered to be in the same peer group. The very name of this is PEER Praise. The idea, it seems, is for employees, peers, if you will, to express praise for others in their peer group. If an employee asks a department head for a Peer Praise Note form and uses it to praise the department head, should that be a proper use of the Peer Praise Note form? Maybe it needs a different name. I would go over to OPA and ask but the last time I tried that for information about the still unanswered break times issue, the GM said terrible things to me. No peer praise, for sure... and it broke my heart.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: “Examples could be teamwork, safety, service to guests or internal customers, commitment, fiscal accountability or simply a good deed (going out of one’s way, being aware of the problem and taking action).” Personally I would give it for going above and beyond as it was stated “going out of ones way”. I thank my team daily for the hard work they do doing their jobs. If it’s someone from another dept, I email their supervisor and include the GM. This is just another way to recognize that. “Can employees hand out Peer Praise to their supervisors? I note the use of the words "co-worker" and "peer." Supervisors have the books so I’m not sure. “It sounds like department heads can give each other Peer Notes.” I suppose if they wanted too. |
