It has been even scarier. Around 2010 - 2012 a sitting board, behind closed doors, negotiated to purchase the Pines Shore Executive golf course. This boondoggle was exposed in a conversation at the bar at BJ’s on the Water in Ocean City. This particular incident might also be the single best argument for our membership to rein in board spending with the upcoming referendum. Apparently the offering price was decided behind closed doors and at an amount just under the spending threshold in order to avoid that pesky old property owners scrutiny. Marty |
