Here is the most recent information that I have from the last Board meeting….

The Bainbridge Pond drainage improvement project is on schedule and on budget. The project should be completed by the end of June and maybe a bit earlier.

As for the budget OP received a grant for $482,337 grant for the work and also budgeted $235,000 in additional funding. It is anticipated that all work will be completed within budget.

What most readers do not realize (and I was one of them when the project was first discussed) is that the Bainbridge project is primarily a water filtration effort with drainage benefits a secondary consideration. Tom Janasek explained that to the Board earlier this year. Apparently grants do not exist (or are extremely difficult to secure) for drainage projects. A different story for filtration projects and shoreline restoration such as the Osprey Point project.

Even though drainage is a secondary benefit of the project I believe the rain over the past day showed that flooding will be reduced. A post earlier today on Nextdoor has a video of the pond and it appears to have reduced any flooding in that area. The poster commented that there was no flooding on the teens end of Pinehurst.
