Another homeowner asked the same question on Get Involved and Stuart Lakernick is reporting that" any marks on the envelope will invalidate your ballot."
Why would owners cross out anything on the return envelope? The mailing contractor must be able to identify the property voting to prevent improper voting. That has always been the case. These paranoid rants that the mailing contractor has been told to dump envelopes from certain names is crazy. The name may not be necessary on the envelope but the property voting must be identifiable. I would agree that the names should not have been there but is this some major, outrageous election/ending mistake? Not hardly. There is not even a requirement for a secret ballot, but this election, as well as all others, pretty much results in a secret ballot as the ballots are all separated from the envelopes before counting. The ballots contain no lot or voter info of any kind. Maybe the paranoid will bring up DNA. There are two different issues. Correcting a ballot as directed on the ballot, and crossing out info on the return ballot . Initially I thought you meant the former. Anyone crossing out info on the return ballot should probably have their ballot disqualified. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Don't know what to add except the Board and the Committee didn't respond to email and other homeowners question about crossing the name out on the return ballot envelope. Meanwhile, homeowners are reporting that they did cross their name out. Another homeowner asked the same question on Get Involved and Stuart Lakernick is reporting that" any marks on the envelope will invalidate your ballot." He is also saying "Although the EC reviewed and modified the election materials, we were not privy to the codes on the return envelope". HIC-UP. |
