For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: do you really think people will stop vacationing in Ocean City because wind turbines may be visible to the northeast or east northeast? Several negative factors are involved, each producing the risk of declining tourism. There's the visibility of the turbines. There's the risk of dead sea creatures washing ashore. There's the loss of fishing tournaments to other venues during construction and not subsequently returning. There's the risk of sharp shrouds of fiberglass on beaches from shattered blades. There's the risk of loss of life from radar being impaired by the hundreds of huge wind turbines. Also There's the risk of hundreds more turbines by adding more projects. For example days ago a second project was added, in waters off of Ocean City. When will it stop. England has already experienced multiple dead & beached sea creature events near its wind farms. Land based turbines have experienced multiple blades shattering. Junked blades are accumulating at dumps and causing local objections. A result of industriaiation is the industrial waste. Beach goers at Nantucket are griping loudly, and the Town is planning a lawsuit. The principle of due care is expected to be applied in advance. Seems wrong headed to wait until some problems or tragedies do occur before exercising due diligence to examine the pitfalls and to avoid mistakes. Nuff said. |
