Those “three” turbine blade failures were from new offshore projects, still being constructed, which is part of the citizens anger & disappointment. And likely becomes part of the law suits to be filed. New equipment should not be failing !
Hundreds, possibly thousands of land based blades have failed within about 6 years to 8 years,-- with some crashing to the ground, others are replaced sooner when wear was noticed. And the harsh oceanic location may accelerate blade failures. Citizens in Texas and other US locations have been complaining about the junked blades, accumulating as many as thousands. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: A search of the internet returns that there are about 2700 wind turbines off the UK cost. Three blades per turbine equals 8100 blades. Three broken blades is 3 ten thousands of 1 %. Hardly relevant.. Let me add something positive about tourism. Some smart person will but a tour bout and charge people to take a tour of the turbines. |
