Jack, not only does Mayor Meehan's letter to Govenor Moore use US Wind's own words to confirm a figure of 10.7 miles off OC coast, it includes US Wind's admission, "The scale and size of the project would make it a significant new element of the character of the ocean-facing portions of beach resort communities, which are highly sensitive to change in visual character. The project will be clearly distinct and would detract from the character of the open ocean horizon."
Further down the Mayor's letter, he points out that wind farms being constructed off the Virginia and North Carolina coasts are 26 miles offshore. He's telling Govenor Moore that 26 miles can be done........... but not unless you insist on it. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: What is the distance in point of fact? MarWin website still says 20 miles???? I was not able to answer that question previously relative to my comment regarding these windmills being as close as 10 miles to the shore even though US Wind still lists 20 miles as the distance from shore on their own website. The letter from the Mayor to Governor Moore answers this question in some detail. OffshoreWind |
