If the problem is truly "short roots" due to hot weather, then the Director of Golf should instruct the head of golf maintenance to ensure that all of the irrigation systems on the greens and fairways are operational. They should know what time they have them set to come on. If there is a "fungus problem," that's a different matter, but word needs to go out to the community with transparency on this and other issues. My point is that the new Director of Golf may not be "customer-centric" enough for our situation in the Pines where he needs to be receptive to both golfers and home-owners. Not sure if the prior job he had involved a course set in the heart of an established coastal community like ours. Aside from the aspect of how the maintenance impacts the game and the overall enjoyment thereof, there is also the aspect of all our homes backing up the golf course. I have spoken to several other golfers who own homes adjacent to the course who have requested simple maintenance tasks near their homes which have appeared to have been ignored. A meeting to discuss and defend all of this should be initiated by the new golf management. That is what I expect as a community member who has lived in the Pines fulltime for over ten years.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This is a MANAGEMENT problem. C'Mon Mike, it's because of the hot weather. Isn't that why there are no golf courses in either Florida or Arizona? |
