Section 5: OPA Board Subject: GM Challenges Board Msg# 915105

I wonder if Landscapes Unlimited did their due diligence before submitting a response to the OPA RFP.
With a decimated membership base loss (over 600 members in 2004 to less than 200 currently) in a community of over 8,000 homes in a resort area, new hotels and a casino nearby, suspect UL did some due dilegence that should have been done by past BOD's/GM's, and, then Casper. When they identified, and, said they were committed to rebuilding local membership, I felt they may actually have a chance to finally turn around a great community asset. The private course , supported by outside play, mentality that drove away many members may have a chance to be turned back into a community golf course by UL. Let's see what they can do! For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Nonetheless, now that those concerns of the GM are out in the open What concerns? I heard no specific concerns. All I heard is the GM state that the board made a mistake and it did not do due diligence. The GM made accusations. Here is a link to a list of the 30 or so courses they are currently managing around the country. When the public presentations were made I recall a few of the OPA golfers complaining that the courses they managed were way too high end to compare to our OPA course. I recall a board member making strange disparaging remarks about one of the men making the presentation. I'm speculating this entire Thompson thing was orchestrated with knowledge of and perhaps support of the board minority and a number of disgruntled OPA golf members. Here is a link to an Arnold Palmer designed course they manage -- Players Club at Deer Creek. Here's a link to one they built and manage -- Firekeeperr Golf Course. This is no fly-by-night operation. In fact, if anything, one might wonder why they would even want to become involved with us. I wonder if Landscapes Unlimited did their due diligence before submitting a response to the OPA RFP. |
