Section 5: OPA Board Subject: GM Challenges Board Msg# 914969

I can only speak to the time when I was a member of the Board working on the Golf evaluation... During our work, the GM was not involved... nor was he briefed, to the best of my recollection.
I think that was a preliminary stage where what might be called a committee of several people was involved. You have been off the board since last August. That's perhaps seven months ago. I would also point out to everyone reading this discussion that when you were on the board Tom Terry was president in command of a 5-2 majority on many issues, and neither Dave Stevens or Pat Renaud were board members. So if Thompson was not kept informed at that time, then it was the fault of the then board of directors, not the current board. More recent factual information is this: Back on January 8th some 31 association members attended a special board meeting about golf management. Most were golfers. Eight made public comments. One of those making public comments was Pete Gomsak. All spoke in favor of keeping Casper. After public comments the board went into closed session. Thompson was there. Then on February 14th, in response to a Jack Collins statement where he said he wanted transparency in the process, the board held a public hearing and all three of the companies under consideration made presentations; golfers and other association members had an opportunity to ask them questions. Thompson was there. Then on February 20th the board met in open session, took public comments, and then moved to private session to choose a golf management company. I was there. No golfers or others were. I made public comments suggesting the board consider keeping Casper for another year. Thompson was there. I would think Thompson prepared the RFP that resulted in the management firms under discussion. Any suggestion that Bob Thompson was not involved is pure nonsense. Thompson, on the contrary, was doing everything in his power to try and keep Casper on the payroll. He seemed almost obsessed with the notion, something I could not quite understand. He lost, and now it is sour grapes in a very public way. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ted I agree with your comments. I can only speak to the time when I was a member of the Board working on the Golf evaluation... During our work, the GM was not involved... nor was he briefed, to the best of my recollection. jeff |
