Hi Joe,
Did anyone ever look into using the BIG HOLE behind White Horse park on our side of Beauchamp Rd. that I mentioned to you after a meeting a year or so ago? The Big Hole is still there and it is very close to Beauchamp Rd. I guess Boise Cascade dug it for fill when making canals when they first began developing O.P. In 1970 .. the first year of The Campground, the children used to play in that magical area. There were some big trees on the sides with thick vines hanging down, and they played "Tarzan" in there. It was a wonderful "playground". There were lots of chunks and bumps in it, so it was best to accompany the younger ones. I spent a lot of time down in that hole! It seems that if water could directed to The Hole during heavy rains, and let out into the ditch on our side of Beauchamp, and and it could flow into the river. It could be dug out a bit more. It was likely deeper 50 years ago. It seems that this would not cost a fortune. Bainbridge Pond is very close to Brauchamp Rd. and all the land belongs to OPA. Just wonder if this has ever been considered. People on Pinehurst, parts of Sandyhook, and Burr Hill need relief! We are lucky not to have flooding. Before we built our house, neighbors told us that where we are is where people park their cars during heavy rains. Nancy Weber |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well I guess because I thought I was doing a pretty good job answering them myself My sources tell me the flow into the River Run pond cannot be increased beyond what it is now. Can you verifty this? As previously mentioned, 50,000 cubic feet of additional retention is not going to do much. What is the acreage feeding into the pond? If there is less flooding within OP due to phase 1 work there will be greater flows under Beauchamp in peak runoff periods. Can you verify this with the engineer? What would be any possible location to direct more runoff from that area into the bay? The only possibility I am aware of is some sort of a system directing the water down Beauchamp Road. I thought I heard that could cost $10 million. Can you ask the engineer about that? |
